GrowWise Counseling exists to nurture insight, resilience, and personal growth. I provide thoughtful, compassionate care that honors each client’s unique path while supporting clarity, emotional strength, and meaningful change.
I grew up in Michigan and am married with six children. My lifelong interest in families and relationships, along with a strong commitment to supporting young people, has shaped my work as a therapist. I find deep joy in walking alongside children and families as they grow and heal.
I find joy in hiking and spending time outdoors, capturing moments through drawing and sketching, and discovering cozy coffee shops while listening to jazz. These simple pleasures help me stay grounded and bring energy and perspective to my work.

I provide individualized, compassionate care, tailoring strategies to each client’s needs to help them build insight, resilience, and meaningful change.
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a safe, supportive space for your growth. Here’s what typically happens:
The first session is mostly about understanding your needs and helping you feel comfortable. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready for — counseling works best at your pace, and building trust is our first step.
GrowWise Counseling provides counseling services for individuals of all ages, including children, adolescents, and adults.
Confidentiality is the foundation of the client-therapist relationship. Most people would not feel comfortable discussing personal matters without knowing that everything shared is private. Not only are the contents of therapy privileged, but even the fact that someone is a client of a therapist is confidential. Psychology has a longstanding tradition of honoring privacy from ethical, professional, and legal perspectives.
I provide counseling under the direction of a clinical supervisor, Dr. Lee Harris, and I consult with him as needed to ensure the highest quality of care. All consultations are confidential, and your privacy remains protected.
There are a few minimal and specific exceptions to confidentiality, including:
In rare instances where a therapist breaks confidentiality outside of these exceptions, the consequences can be severe, including legal action, fines, and loss of professional licensing.
If you have questions about GrowWise Counseling’s privacy policies, please ask. I will review and explain the policy with you during your first session.
Consistency is an important part of counseling, as regular sessions help build insight, reinforce coping skills, and support steady progress. Most clients start with weekly appointments, but the frequency can vary based on your goals, needs, and schedule. Some clients may benefit from every-other-week sessions, while others might adjust as progress is made or circumstances change.
We’ll work together to find a rhythm that feels manageable, effective, and supportive for you and your family. The schedule can be revisited as needed to best meet your needs and ensure continuity of care.
Play therapy is a type of counseling designed primarily for children. Through play — using toys, art, games, and creative activities — children can express thoughts, feelings, and experiences that may be difficult to put into words.
Play therapy helps children:
As a trained play therapist, I use structured and flexible approaches to meet each child where they are, helping them explore, express, and build resilience in a safe, supportive environment.
Both virtual and in-person counseling have benefits, and the best option depends on the client’s age, needs, and comfort level.
I’ll work with you to determine the format that best supports your child or teen’s progress, and we can adjust as needed over time.an answer to this item.
I try to meet with parents on a regular basis to support their child’s progress and growth. Sometimes these meetings include the child, and sometimes they are one-on-one with the parent. These sessions provide an opportunity to discuss progress, collaborate on goals, and work on parenting strategies tailored to your child’s unique needs. My goal is to help families feel supported, informed, and empowered to reinforce skills and resilience at home.
Please call or email and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
